Comment about recent NOTS video

Really enjoyed watching this video, and I'm going to have to do some experimenting with both those browsers!
I've lately been using the CCleaner browser a good deal, and wonder what your thoughts are on that?

Hi there! I hadn't heard of the CCleaner browser; I did used to use the CCleaner app when I used Windows full-time, but I tend not to use it as much now (especially after it was pulled from Ninite because Piriform wanted people going through their installation wizard that offers extra cruft like toolbars.)

Looking at their webpage, the CCleaner Browser sounds like it does a lot of the same things LibreWolf and Brave do by default. Judging by the screenshots, it's based on Chrome/Chromium, and they include AdBlock Plus (which is known for requiring payments from large advertisers to be placed on their "non-intrusive ads" list). Like the main CCleaner app, it doesn't appear CCleaner Browser is open-source (Chromium's permissive 3-clause BSD license allows proprietary downstream apps to exist).

I can't currently access the "FAQs" or "Browser Documentation" links at the bottom of the webpage; I'm getting an SSL protocol error in Brave on my desktop and also on vanilla Chrome on my Android phone (so the protocol error isn't caused by any of Brave's hardening).

Considering these points, I wouldn't use CCleaner Browser as my personal browser. I'd personally go with one of the available open-source options that include all the same extra features and protections, maintained by more dedicated entities with websites that don't have SSL configuraiton errors. If CCleaner was to open-source their browser so we could see how it differs from similar offerings, and if they were to support more platforms than just Windows, then I'd take a more serious look at it.
